Feeling Not Found, the third full-length album from Washington, D.C. duo Origami Angel, defines a moment and sound within the punk and emo communities. Vocalist/guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Pat Doherty, who started the band in 2016, created this 14-track epic with producer Will Yip at Studio 4 Recording. The album explores a sensation of being lost in digital information, reflecting Heagy’s view of America as a “digital silicon hellscape.” Heagy explains that the album represents his and the band’s emotional journey over three years, culminating in a mix of easycore, metalcore, indie rock, emo, and electronic genres that showcase their unrestrained creativity.

The juxtaposition of the band’s rise in notoriety with the pandemic’s shift to online-only existence deeply affected Heagy, influencing the themes of the new LP. Collaborating with Will Yip was emotionally significant for Heagy, who found solace after his cousin’s passing. Tracks like “Lost Signal,” “Dirty Mirror Selfie,” “Where Blue Light Blooms,” and “Wretched Trajectory” highlight the band’s genre-blending style and emotional depth. The album closes with the title track, “Feeling Not Found,” where Heagy’s lyrics reflect a newfound resolve and understanding, symbolizing the band’s journey and growth. Feeling Not Found is set for release on September 27 through Counter Intuitive Records.
