The emotive and cinematic break-beat trio GoGo Penguin will be in Portugal, playing songs from their latest album Everything Is Going to Be OK (Sony Music XXIM), the ninth album in eleven years from the English jazz band formed in Manchester in 2012. Full of optimism and new beginnings, with a new drummer, a new label and a subtly updated sound, the band is living a new era that is sonically more liberated, but without losing its unique music that incorporates elements of electronica, trip-hop, jazz, rock and classical music.
Everything Is Going to Be OK was born out of a moment of turbulence and loss. During a personally difficult period for the band, including personal loss and bereavement, the studio became a refuge away from real life. The result is a project full of shared understanding and empathy. Through our difficulties, together, we will emerge stronger; everything is going to be ok.
